Caroline Kung discovered a natural talent and passion for music at the age of 3 when she was introduced to the paino. She was exposed to the flute at age 8 and hasn't put it down since. She joined the high school orchestra in the 5th grade and started winning many competitions. In 1996 she was honored as the "premier woodwind player in the nation" by the National Music Teachers Association. She was invited to play with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra in 1997. Caroline received her bachelors degree in Flute Performance from the Rice University Shepherd School of Music in 2001 with cum lade honors. She has studied with Leone Buyse of Rice University Shepherd School of Music; Fenwick Smith of New England Conservatory; Jim Walker of USC; and Jeanne Baxtresser of Juilliard. She will receive her masters degree in Flute Performance from the Thornton School of Music at USC in 2005. Currently, Caroline plays with the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra, the Marina del Rey Summer Symphony, and the Mancini Institute Orchestra. |
